On April 22, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Dauphin RCMP were patrolling Main Street North in Dauphin when they witnessed an assault in progress.

One male was assaulting another male with punches and kicks. The suspect also used his dog to attack the victim.

Officers immediately intervened, arrested the suspect, secured the dog and provided first-aid to the 36-year-old victim. The male was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against a 33-year-old Dauphin male, who remains in custody.

Local bylaw officers have seized the dog.

A section of Main Street North was briefly cordoned off to traffic while officers responded to the incident.
