St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP make arrest after youth found with weapons at school

On April 22, 2026, at approximately 9:30 am, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP were notified about a male youth with a firearm on their way to Green Valley School in Grunthal.
Officers immediately responded and notified school officials. The youth was located on school property by staff who were able to get the teen to hand over the weapons in his possession. No force was used by school officials during this incident.
Upon arrival, officers placed the youth under arrest and seized a handgun (unloaded), a loaded magazine, additional loose ammunition in a container, and knives.
The male youth is facing the following charges:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purposes
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon
- Possession of weapon obtained by crime
A comprehensive investigation is ongoing.
The teen remains in custody.
The Manitoba RCMP is not releasing the age of the teen as the information could help identify the youth due to the size of the community in which the incident occurred.
