RCMP recovered this cannister of bear spray after a male was arrested after trying to get into houses on 5th Avenue Southeast in Portage la Prairie.

On April 28, at approximately 4:30 p.m., RCMP received multiple reports of a suspicious male armed with bear spray was banging on doors and trying to get into houses on 5th Street Southeast in Portage la Prairie.

An officer already in the area began patrols and located the suspect walking a short distance from where the incidents occurred. The suspect ran from RCMP but was caught and arrested on 4th Street SE. A can of bear spray was located by officers along the route the suspect had ran to evade arrest.

Arnold Richard, 26, of Portage la Prairie has been charged with weapon possession.

Richard remained in custody pending a court appearance.
