Brass knuckles were seized by Portage la Prairie RCMP after arresting a suspect on April 30.

On April 30, at approximately 2 :50 a.m., RCMP responding to a disturbance located a suspect walking east on Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage la Prairie.

Officers stopped the male and started to pat down the suspect when he ran from members, with brass knuckles falling out of his pocket as he fled. A brief foot pursuit followed, with the suspect surrendering to police a short distance away.

RCMP recovered and seized the brass knuckles.

Sebastian Houle, 23, of Sandy Bay First Nation has been charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • Resisting a peace officer; and
  • Failure to comply with a probation order.

Houle remained in custody overnight, pending a court appearance on Thursday morning.
