Update - Little Grand Rapids RCMP respond to homicide in Pauingassi First Nation
Mathias Maurice Keeper, a 20-year-old male, from Pauingassi First Nation, has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. He has been remanded into custody.
Little Grand Rapids RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.

On April 29, 2026, at 9:40 pm, Little Grand Rapids RCMP were notified by Pauingassi First Nation Safety Officer that they had responded to a stabbing in the community.
The victim, a 29-year-old male from the community, was located deceased at a residence. His death is being investigated as a homicide and Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services has taken carriage of the investigation.
At 11:23 pm, the suspect, a 20-year-old male from Pauingassi First Nation, was arrested.
Little Grand Rapids RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
