Update - Lundar RCMP investigating a homicide in Lake Manitoba First Nation

On May 4, 2026, a second-degree murder charge was approved by Manitoba Prosecution Service, and an arrest warrant was issued for Chase Paul, 23, from Lake Manitoba First Nation. Chase Paul had originally been arrested and later released from custody as further investigative steps were needed.

Chase Paul was re-arrested in Winnipeg on the evening of May 4th and was subsequently remanded into custody. 

Lundar RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.

On April 30, 2026, at 12:23 pm, Lundar RCMP received a report of a missing 23-year-old male from Lake Manitoba First Nation.

At 1:34 pm, Lundar RCMP received information that the missing person may have suffered life-threatening injuries and his whereabouts were still unknown. 

First Nation Safety Officers, Police officers from the local detachment, along with RCMP Police Dog Services and a drone operator, attended Lake Manitoba First Nation to gather information and locate the missing person.

Shortly after 3:30 pm, RCMP and First Nation Safety Officers located the missing person deceased in a wooded area in the community. 

His death is being investigated as a homicide and Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services has taken carriage of the investigation. 

Further investigation led to the arrest of a 23-year-old male from the community who remains in police custody. 

The investigation continues.
