Update: Steinbach RCMP respond to an aggravated assault in the RM of Ste Anne

On May 3, 2026, Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services took carriage of the investigation into the death of 49-year-old, Cameron Huley, that occurred in the RM of Ste Anne.
Further investigation has determined there was a social gathering outside a residence in the RM of Ste. Anne. An altercation ensued amongst those present, which resulted in the victim receiving an injury that later caused his death in hospital.
The suspect and victim were guests at the residence where the incident took place and were not previously known to each other.
On May 12, 2026, RCMP has arrested Jeff Wyness, a 46-year-old male from the RM of Ste Anne, in relation to this death. He has since been charged with one count of Manslaughter and released on conditions with a pending court date.
Steinbach RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.

On May 2, 2026, at 11:37 p.m., Steinbach RCMP responded to an aggravated assault in the RM of Ste. Anne.
A 49-year-old male suffered life-threatening injuries following the assault and was transported to hospital by ambulance. He succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
His death is being investigated as a homicide and Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services has taken carriage of the investigation
Steinbach RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
