Approximately $350,000 in cocaine was seized by RCMP Traffic Services in the RM of Sifton on May 1.

On May 1, at approximately 4 :30 p.m, RCMP Traffic Service pulled over the driver of an eastbound SUV travelling on Highway 2, in the RM of Sifton.

RCMP conducted a compliance check on the driver and subsequently took him into custody. A search of the SUV then uncovered approximately 4.5 kilograms of vacuum-packaged cocaine that had been hidden throughout the vehicle.

The street value of the cocaine seized by RCMP is estimated at approximately $350,000.

Joseph McPherson, 31, of Hanna, Alta., has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

He was remanded into custody.

The investigation continues.
