Suspects arrested after replica handgun seen inside Morris hospital

On May 5, at approximately 4 :30 p.m., RCMP responded to a report that an armed male was threatening a female inside Morris General Hospital.

Morris RCMP learned two adult females had been arguing inside the hospital. An adult male who was with one of the females then flashed a handgun at the female victim. The two suspects then left the hospital. 

Minutes later, RCMP received a report that a pickup truck had collided with a highway sign on Highway 75, just north of Morris. The vehicle was subsequently abandoned and two individuals were seen fleeing the scene on foot.

RCMP officers from St. Pierre-Jolys and Police Dog Services joined in the search for the suspects, who were located walking on Main Street in Morris. Both were arrested.

A replica handgun was located by RCMP service dog Sega a short distance away.

Timothy Craig, 20, of Plum Coulee is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Carrying a concealed weapon;
  • Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence; and
  • Failure to comply with a probation order x2.

He was remanded into custody.

A 39-year-old Emerson female faces charges of:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Resisting arrest; and
  • Causing a disturbance.

She is expected to be released today on an undertaking.
