Steinbach RCMP arrest male for driving intoxicated

On May 6, 2026, at 5 pm, Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services witnessed a smaller black vehicle drive through a red light at the intersection of Main Street and Hespeler Street in Steinbach. The other vehicles, who had the green light, were already proceeding into the intersection. 

The officer immediately conducted a traffic stop on Willow Crescent and proceeded with a Mandatory Alcohol Screening on the driver, which he failed. 

The driver was then arrested for impaired driving and taken into custody for a breath test. The driver blew over 3 times the legal limit of 80mg%. 

His license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 60 days. A serious offence notice was also issued for a license review.

The 34-year-old male, from Steinbach, was released on an Appearance Notice with a July court date in Steinbach and is being charged with:

  • Impaired Operation
  • Impaired Operation over 80mg%
  • Drive Carelessly under Highway Traffic Act ($672 fine)
