Portage la Prairie RCMP arrested four people and seized items taken from a business on May 8.

On May 8, at approximately 4:10 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a suspected break-in at a business on the 2700-block of Saskatchewan Avenue West in Portage la Prairie.

Officers arrived at the scene and learned a male and female arrived inside a vehicle that stopped behind the building where the business is located. They then loaded more than $10,000 worth of items and work equipment into the vehicle – including building tools, batteries, a hand saw and a grass trimmer.

The pair then got back inside the car and fled.

Officers noted all doors to the business appeared locked and secured, with no signs of forced entry.

RCMP continued to investigate and learned the break-in and theft had actually occurred at an adjacent business.

Officers also identified the two suspects and executed a search warrant at a residence on 18th Street Northwest. Officers recovered the stolen items and seized nearly two grams of fentanyl, a half-gram of crystal meth, drug paraphernalia and $780 in cash.
