Update - Gimli RCMP locates human remains in community of Riverton

On May 12, 2026, Gimli RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services, Forensic Identification Services and the Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant on a property located in Riverton.
As a result of the search, a body was located within a vehicle on the property. The suspect, a 41-year-old male from Riverton, was arrested on scene without incident.
Following the autopsy and completion of the forensic investigation, we can confirm that the human remains located within the vehicle are that of Darryl Lambert, 39, who was reported missing to the Gimli RCMP Detachment on March 17, 2026.
Richard Lea, 41, has been charged with Second degree murder and has been remanded into custody.
Gimli RCMP, along with the RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.

On May 12, 2026, Gimli RCMP received information regarding possible human remains in the community of Riverton.
Gimli RCMP, along with Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Section, attended a property in the community. They have confirmed that human remains were located.
Officers are still on scene and are investigating. The human remains have yet to be identified.
Major Crime Services had taken carriage of the investigation and further information will be released when it becomes available.
