Steinbach RCMP arrest male after theft on a construction site

On May 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., Steinbach RCMP received a report of a theft from a construction site on Wilson Street in Steinbach.
It was reported that a male suspect stole tools from that location.
A suspect was found behind a church on Main Street, standing near a pile of stolen tools. Workers from the construction site approached the suspect but he left on foot. The workers were able to recover most of the stolen tools.
Officers immediately attended and patrolled the area. The suspect was located walking on McKenzie Avenue, holding stolen hammers, and was arrested without incident.
A 23-year-old male from Steinbach is facing charges of:
- Mischief;
- Theft;
- Possession of property obtained by crime;
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose; and
- Illegal possession of a government document.
He was released on conditions with a court date for August in Steinbach.
Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate.
