Update #4 - On June 11, 2026, at approximately 11:35 pm, Thompson RCMP officers, who were patrolling in the area of Nickel Road, located and arrested the 17-year-old youth who was wanted for Second degree murder in relation to the homicide of a 21-year-old male, from Leaf Rapids, on May 20, 2026, in Thompson.

The 17-year-old was transported to the Thompson RCMP Detachment and lodged in cells. He will be remanded into custody later today on a charge of Second degree murder.

Note to media: As the youth has been located and arrested, the media are asked to remove his name and picture from all online platforms.

Update #3 - On June 9, officers from the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU) and Thompson General Investigative Section (GIS), located and arrested 19-year-old Eternity Chastelaine and 24-year-old Marshall Merasty without incident. Both accused remain in police custody and will be remanded for a court appearance scheduled for later today.

RCMP continue to search for the 17-year-old youth, of Thompson, who has been charged with Second degree murder.

The RCMP are requesting anyone with information on the whereabouts of this 17-year-old to call the Thompson RCMP Detachment at 204-677-6909/6911, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Note to media: As per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, an ex parte application was made by the RCMP to a Provincial Judge to publish information that identifies a young person as having committed or allegedly committed an indictable offence under the Act.

The application was approved as there is reason to believe that the young person may be a danger to others and that the publication of information is necessary to assist in apprehending the young person.

This application is valid for 5 days. As such, any information identifying the youth, including his name and picture, must be removed from all online platforms by 11:59 pm on June 14, 2026.

Update #2 - On May 25, the ongoing investigation into the homicide of the 21-year-old male, from Leaf Rapids, led RCMP Major Crime Services to issue Warrants of Arrest out for 19-year-old Eternity Chastelaine, for Manslaughter, and a 17-year-old male, for Second degree murder.

On May 26, a Warrant of Arrest was also issued for 24-year-old Marshall Merasty, who has also been charged with Second degree murder.

The three accused have yet to be located and RCMP are asking anyone with information on their whereabouts to call the Thompson RCMP at 204-677-6909/6911, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Update #1 - RCMP Major Crime Services are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this person of interest in relation to the homicide of a 21-year-old male, from Leaf Rapids, on May 20, 2026, in Thompson.

On May 20, 2026, at 2:20 am, Thompson RCMP were called to the report of a stabbing in an open area located off of Princeton Drive in Thompson.

The male victim was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  

Thompson RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
