On May 25, 2026, at 6:27 pm, Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services were travelling west on Highway 52, near Provincial Road 216, in the RM of Hanover.

Officers witnessed a vehicle, also travelling westbound, approaching from behind at 185 km/h in a 100 km/h speed zone. The vehicle passed other vehicles then passed the police car at a high rate of speed without slowing down.

The vehicle was immediately stopped where the driver admitted to speeding. His excuse was that he was picking up his mother from the hospital. Police checks revealed that he had a suspended driver’s license.

The driver, a 46-year-old male from Niverville, was served with a $1163 fine for speeding and served with a Serious Offence Notice.

He was also arrested for Driving while prohibited under the Criminal Code and released with a pending court date.
