On May 25, at approximately 1:50 p.m., RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a taxi at Fourth Street Northeast, in Portage la Prairie.
Inside the vehicle were two passengers in the back seat, with one of the passengers holding a bottle of open liquor. Both passengers were instructed to exit the vehicle, at which point the officer noticed a small amount of what appeared to be methamphetamine lying on the back seat of the cab.
A subsequent search of one of the suspects uncovered a scale, two cellphones and almost $1,600 in cash. A bag found inside the vehicle contained 25 grams of what appeared to be methamphetamine – which would have a street value of about $2,500 – as well as seven opioid tablets and drug paraphernalia.
Sean Davis, 43, of High Bluff has been charged with:
- Drug possession for the purpose of trafficking x3; and
- Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.
He made a court appearance on Tuesday morning.
The other passenger was released without charge.
