Morris RCMP are investigating after responding to three suspicious fires over the last few days.
The first call came in Friday, May 29, 2026, at approximately 11:00 pm, where a small jacket had been placed near the intersection of Main Street and Charles Avenue and set on fire. No damage was reported. Fire department attended but it was out before they arrived.
That same evening, at approximately 12:00 am, officers responded to a reported fire at a church on Main Street. Officers arrived, and the fire department was on scene and had extinguished a small fire in a tree and near a statue on the front lawn.
A window of the church was found to be cracked due to the heat from the close proximity of the fire but no other damage was noted.
On June 1, 2026, at approximately 11:30 pm, police were called for a suspicious vehicle behind a business, when they noticed flames coming from the rear of a business on Charles Street West.
Officers used a fire extinguisher until the local fire department arrived. Initial investigation indicates a mattress that was leaning against a shed had been lit on fire.
No one was injured in any of the incidents.
