On June 4, at approximately 3 p.m., RCMP received a report that an individual was vandalizing railway signs at the local rail yard in Dauphin.
Officers from Dauphin RCMP and the RCMP West District General Investigative Section responded immediately and located the male on the west side of a bridge, continuing to spray paint graffiti onto a yellow railway sign.
The individual was told he was under arrest and to stop. However, he continued defacing the sign until officers were able to reach him. He was taken into custody without incident.
Officers have since linked the suspect to a June 2 theft at a Main Street liquor store, where a bottle of alcohol was taken by a male suspect who then left the store without paying.
Alfred Beaulieu, 36, of Ebb and Flow First Nation is charged with:
- Mischief under $5,000; and
- Theft under $5,000.
He was remanded into custody.
