Suspect injured after RCMP firearm discharged

On June 6, at 9:53 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of an altercation between an adult male and group of teenagers in MacGregor.

RCMP located the suspect inside a residence. While attempting to bring him into custody, an officer discharged their firearm. The suspect – a 33-year-old MacGregor male – was not shot but did suffer an injury as a result of the firearm being discharged and was transported to hospital in Winnipeg via air ambulance, where he was treated and released.

No other injuries occurred.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba and RCMP Major Crime Services are investigating.
