At approximately 10:45 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a van hitting a restaurant on the 1500-block of Main Street South in Dauphin.

Paramedics and the Dauphin Fire Department also attended.

It appears a novice driver with a valid learner’s licence mistook the gas pedal for the brake and drove the vehicle into the side of the building before stopping. A 20-year-old female sitting at the closest table suffered minor injuries.

The driver was ticketed under The Highway Traffic Act for careless driving, which carries a fine of $672.
