Portage la Prairie RCMP arrest two after male stabbed

On June 19, at approximately 3:55 a.m. RCMP responded to a report that a person had been stabbed multiple times at a residence on the 700-block of Willow Bay, in Portage la Prairie.
Officers learned two males who were known to one another got into an argument while attending a house party. One suspect then grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.
RCMP located the victim after he had fled the scene. He was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers then went to the residence to locate the suspect. Shortly after arriving, police saw two individuals running out the back door. Officers chased down the suspects and apprehended both males, with one refusing to identify himself.
A 22-year-old Long Plain First Nation male faces charges of:
- Assault causing bodily harm; and
- Resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
A 21-year-old Long Plain First Nation male faces charges of:
- Resisting arrest x2; and
- Failure to comply with a release order condition x4.
Both were held in custody overnight, pending a Friday court appearance.
