Dauphin Countryfest attendees enjoyed the music and the revelry over the weekend, with only a relatively small number of interactions that required RCMP intervention.

RCMP supplemented the work of festival security throughout the weekend, helping to patrol the festival grounds and campsites. While most festivalgoers enjoyed the weekend without issue, there were a few notable incidents to report. They include:

  • Shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, RCMP responded to a report of an assault that occurred at one of the campgrounds. A 22-year-old male walking with his girlfriend back to their campsite at the end of the night was punched multiple times in the head by a suspect. He was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment of his injuries. An 18-year-old Dauphin male was located the following night at the festival, had his festival bracelet revoked, and faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
  • On Sunday, RCMP pulled over a vehicle driving erratically on the campground site. A 46-year-old female was charged with impaired driving offences.
  • On Saturday, RCMP responded to a domestic disturbance in one of the trailers at a campground site. The female victim did not require medical treatment. A 40-year-old Lake St. Martin First Nation male was charged with assault.
  • On Saturday, a Saskatchewan male was ticketed twice after officers intervened in a domestic argument occurring at the beer garden with his girlfriend. Officers advised the male to leave her alone for a little while. He repeatedly declined, resulting in the individual spending the night in jail until he sobered up. He received $1,344 in tickets for disorderly conduct and failing to comply with direction by police to leave licensed premises.
  • Early Friday morning, a 24-year-old Brandon male was found sleeping in the wrong camper and began fighting the rightful occupants when woken up. The male was arrested, spent the night in a holding cell and was released without charge on Friday.
  • On Thursday night, a couple was ticketed for disorderly conduct after a 30-year-old male physically challenged officers and security multiple times throughout the night. The male and a 20-year-old female he was with then started pushing each other. The two Valley River First Nation residents were arrested, given $672 tickets and held in custody overnight.

RCMP thanks festival organizers and city officials for their annual efforts to ensure Countryfest is safe for all attendees. We also thank the thousands of attendees who enjoyed the music and all that comes with it in a safe and responsible manner. We’re already looking forward to next year!
