Emerson RCMP respond to an assault with weapon, asking help from the public through RAVE

On July 2, 2026, shortly after midnight, Emerson RCMP responded to an assault on Bank Street in Emerson. Upon arrival at the scene, officers learned that two males were attacked from behind while walking on the street after an event. 

One of the victims, a 51-year-old male from Winnipeg, was hit with a baseball bat and possibly sprayed with bear mace. He was taken to hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim, a 26-year-old male also from Winnipeg, was physically assaulted and did not require medical attention. 

The suspects were not known to the victims and were seen driving away in a Black Mazda CX5 with Manitoba licence plate KXF 386. 

Emerson RCMP is asking anyone with information about the assault or the whereabouts of the vehicle, to contact the Emerson RCMP at 204-373-2428.  Anyone that may have any video surveillance around Bank Street, pertaining to this incident, is asked to provide it to the Emerson RCMP.

RAVE alert sent out this morning: 

Please be on the lookout for a Black Mazda CX5 with MB licence plate KXF 386 that may be associated to an assault that occurred on Bank Steet in Emerson on 2026-07-02. Please inform RCMP if located. RCMP would also like to know if any persons that reside in the area around Bank Street have cameras that may have video pertaining to an assault that occurred in the early morning of 2026-07-02.

Please report any suspicious activity to RCMP at 204-373-2428. For crimes in progress or emergencies, call 911 immediately.
