Dauphin RCMP arrest male for impaired driving, uttering threats

On July 5, at approximately 12:15 a.m., RCMP received a report about a possible impaired driver travelling in a truck along Highway 5.
Dauphin RCMP responded and located the truck at the side of the road, near Valley River First Nation. After interacting with the male sitting in the driver’s seat, RCMP arrested him on suspicion of impaired driving.
The suspect subsequently refused a breathalyzer and threatened to assault the officer.
Chandler Brandon, 27, of Waywayseecappo First Nation is charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired;
- Refusal to comply with demand for blood alcohol test;
- Uttering threats; and
- Failure to comply.
Brandon was remanded into custody. He was also ticketed for transporting open liquor in a vehicle, as was a 35-year-old male from Waywayseecappo First Nation who was also in the vehicle when RCMP arrived.
The fine for each ticket is $237.
