Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP arrest male after shooting on Ebb and Flow First Nation

On July 3, at approximately 8:05 a.m., Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP responded to a report of a male being shot on the Ebb and Flow First Nation.
RCMP learned the victim, a 25-year-old Winnipeg male, had been shot in the abdomen while he was riding a bicycle in the community. He was located near a local business, transported by private vehicle to Ste. Rose du Lac Health Centre and subsequently taken by air ambulance to hospital in Winnipeg for further treatment.
He is in stable condition.
An investigation led officers to a residence on Central Road in the community, where the suspect was taken into custody.
Joshua Houle, 23, of Ebb and Flow First Nation is charged with:
- Aggravated assault;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Carrying a concealed weapon;
- Careless use of a firearm;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized;
- Discharging a firearm with intent; and
- Weapons possession contrary to order.
He was remanded into custody.
