On July 9, at approximately 2:05 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of gunfire and a gun being pointed out of a window at a residence on the 100-block of Saskatchewan Avenue East in Portage la Prairie.

Officers arrived and located the residence. After the scene was contained, which included temporarily closing a portion of Saskatchewan Avenue and Royal Road to vehicles and pedestrians, RCMP called out people inside the residence.

With the assistance of the RCMP emergency response team (ERT), six people emerged from the residence and were arrested without incident.

A subsequent search of the residence was completed.

A 33-year-old Portage la Prairie male was arrested on an endorsed warrant of arrest to be fingerprinted and was released on an appearance notice. The five others were released without charge.

RCMP continue to investigate.
