Portage la Prairie RCMP arrest suspect, seize knife

On July 10, at approximately 4:45 p.m., RCMP responded to a report that two individuals were harassing staff at a Portage la Prairie business and refusing to leave the property.

Officers arrived on scene, located the two males and arrested them without incident. One of the suspects – a 26-year-old male – indicated he had a large knife in a shoulder bag, which RCMP subsequently searched, found and seized.

RCMP learned the suspect was wanted by the Winnipeg Police Service for failing to comply with the terms of his probation, which included multiple weapons conditions.

Luke Courchene, 26, is charged with:

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
• Faulure to comply with a probation order x2.

The other male was released without charge.
