The Pas RCMP hold awards event for recipients of Criminal Forfeiture Fund

On June 18th a formal awards event was held at The Pas RCMP Detachment during which Criminal Forfeiture Fund Grants were awarded to 3 local recipients for their exceptional work and dedication to bettering our community through education, leadership, community safety and service.
The Manitoba Criminal Forfeiture Fund proceeds obtained from the sale of forfeited property are deposited into a dedicated fund.
The Government of Manitoba uses these funds as grants awarded to fund crime prevention initiatives, law enforcement training, and community -based social programs.
Congratulations to the following groups who were chosen to receive this years Forfeiture Fund Grants.
-The Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron 303
-The Diamond Willow Club
-The Town of The Pas
The Royal Canadian Air Cadets have a long-standing history of program connection and support. The Air Cadets Motto of “To Learn, To Serve, To advance” are program pillars that guild and mentor them in their journey through not only the program but also in life. Their dedication, professionalism, teamwork, and attention to detail is exuberated throughout our Tri Community with all that they do and participate in.
Squadron 303 is being awarded a $45,544.00 Grant for the purchase of essential training equipment that will enhance the Squadron’s abilities in simulated and active training operations.
Diamond Willow Club Traditional Food Hunters Programs is a land Based program which include youth in the communities by taking them out on the land to teach them about their history and culture. They have expanded the program over the past year in the local schools as they conduct presentations recruiting the youth which has increased notable interest and participation. This program assists in promoting food sovereignty and food security with their communities by hunting, gathering, and fishing for traditional foods, medicine and plants. All food, medicines, and plants are cleaned, prepared, packaged and shared at no cost with local elders, single parents, local elder care home, community gatherings, wakes, and funerals.
The Diamond Willow Club is being awarded a $33,020.00 Grant for the purchase of essential equipment needed to grow their teaching and operating capabilities.
The Town of The Pas is committed to ensuring the safety and well being of his citizens and visitors. Through consultations with Community Safety Officer Management, Town Mayor & Council, and Town CAO, a request was made for the purchase of video equipment needed to enhance community safety throughout high-risk area’s of the Community.
The Town of The Pas is being awarded a $47,704.00 Grant for the purchase of this equipment.
