Dauphin RCMP arrest male after laptop, cellphone stolen from inside church

On Aug. 16, at 9:30 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a theft that occurred at a church on 5^th Avenue Northeast in Dauphin.

Officers learned a male suspect had entered the church for a coffee. After a church official was momentarily distracted, they turned around and saw the suspect had left the church and her laptop and cellphone were now missing.

The suspect was identified and arrested that evening outside a business on Memorial Boulevard. He was arrested without incident. The items were not recovered.

A 37-year-old male from Brandon faces a charge of theft under $5,000.

He was released on an undertaking.
