Portage la Prairie RCMP arrest teen after male bitten, female threatened

On Aug. 20, at approximately 7:25 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of an assault that occurred on Fisher Avenue East, in Portage la Prairie.

RCMP learned an 18-year-old male and 19-year-old female were outside the multi-unit residence when an unknown teenage female showed up, began yelling for her friend, then went inside and started knocking on the doors of all the units.

At some point, the couple began talking to the suspect, who in turn began kicking the chair the 19-year-old female was sitting on and threatening her. The suspect then hit the male, scratching his face. While the male attempted to restrain the suspect, she fell to the ground and then bit him on his leg.

RCMP arrived and arrested the suspect. Paramedics treated the male victim at the scene.

A 16-year-old female faces charges of:

• Assault causing bodily harm;
• Assault; and
• Uttering threats.

She has been released on an undertaking.
