Headingley RCMP respond to two serious collisions within a few hours

On September 1, 2026, at 2 pm, Headingley RCMP responded to a collision involving two semi-trucks in the westbound lane of Highway 1, near Road 11 West, in the RM of Cartier. 

One semi-truck was parked on the shoulder and was hit by another semi-truck that was travelling west. The parked semi-truck caught fire impact while the other semi-truck was heavily damaged. 

The driver of the parked semi-truck, a 56-year-old female from La Broquerie, was not injured. The driver of the other semi-truck, a 43-year-old male from Winnipeg, was treated for minor-non-life-threatening injuries and his passenger, a 27-year-old male from Winnipeg, was not injured.

The 43-year-old driver was served with a Provincial Offence Notice for Driving Carelessly.  

At 6 pm, Headingley RCMP received a report of a head-on collision on Highway 2, just west of the intersection with Highway 3 in the RM of Macdonald. 

Officers learned that an SUV was travelling east on Highway 2 when it suddenly veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a semi-truck. 

The driver of the SUV, a 25-year-old male from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The driver of the semi-truck, a 32-year-old male, and his passenger, a 28-year-old male, were treated for minor-non-life-threatening injurie at the scene.  

Headingley RCMP, along with Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services, continue to investigate.
