Update: Lac du Bonnet RCMP investigating theft of ice fishing derby prizes

On September 11, 2026, Lac du Bonnet RCMP began an investigation into the theft of prizes worth over $20,000 gathered for an ice fishing derby planned for this upcoming winter.
On September 23, 2026, Lac du Bonnet RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Lac du Bonnet. Police were able to recover several prizes that were reported stolen as well as other items believed to have been stolen recently within the area.
Lac du Bonnet RCMP arrested a male suspect at the residence during the search.
Alexander Brincheski, 37, from Lac du Bonnet, is charged with:
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000;
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000 x2; and
- Theft under $5,000.
Brincheski remains in custody.
Lac du Bonnet RCMP continues to investigate.

Officers learned that a storage trailer parked at the municipal public works yard in Lac du Bonnet was broken into and over $20,000 worth of items were stolen.

• Mastercraft 6-Piece High-Visibility Pliers Set
• Ice cleats
• Clothing, caps & toques
