Dauphin RCMP arrest male who assaulted female, stole gaming console

On Sept. 15, at approximately 10:45 p.m, RCMP responded to a disturbance that had occurred in Dauphin.

Officers learned a female was inside her residence when a male opened the door and came inside unannounced and began to physically assault her. The male, who was wearing a black mask and black clothing, then unplugged a gaming console and left.

The female victim was treated at the scene for her injuries.

RCMP investigated and identified a suspect, who is known to the victim. On Sept. 16, officers located the suspect outside a residence in Dauphin. RCMP Police Dog Services arrested him without incident.

A 30-year-old Dauphin male has been charged with a number of offences, including:

• Assault while choking, suffocating or strangling;
• Assault
• Break and enter; and
• Robbery.

He was remanded into custody. His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
