On Sept. 18, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Dauphin RCMP initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle whose registered owner had a suspended driver’s licence.
The incident occurred on the 100-block of Main Street in Dauphin. While speaking to the driver, an RCMP officer saw illicit cannabis in plain view in the centre console of the vehicle. As a result, the driver and his female passenger were arrested.
Officers searched the vehicle and seized a kitchen knife, a sword, needles and various drug paraphernalia, as well as open liquor.
RCMP also learned the couple were both under court-ordered conditions to not contact one another.
Zachary McDougall, 27, and 25-year-old MacKenzie Cameron – both of Prince Albert, Sask. – are charged with:
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
• Failure to comply with a release order condition.
The pair also received multiple tickets, with McDougall receiving fines for failing to produce a licence when required, carrying open liquor in a vehicle and possessing illicit cannabis. In total, the tickets carry a combined fine of $1,022.
Cameron received $909 in fines for carrying open liquor in a vehicle and possessing illicit cannabis.
Both were remanded into custody.
