Speeder on Highway 39 clocked over 180 km/hour

On October 2, 2026, just after 6pm., Snow Lake RCMP were travelling on highway 39, west of Ponton – when they noticed another vehicle travelling at a very high rate of speed. 

A traffic stop was conducted, and the officers advised the 24-year-old male driver from The Pas that he was driving at a speed of 186 km/hr. in the 100 km/hr. posted zone.

The driver was given a speeding ticket of $1,176 and issued a Serious Offence Notice (SON) under The Highway Traffic Act.

A SON is more than just a regular speeding ticket.

When a driver is caught travelling at a very high and unsafe speed – their license if automatically reviewed by Manitoba Public Insurance.
