On October 6, 2026, at 9 a.m., Selkirk RCMP observed a vehicle travelling north, then swerving to the shoulder, on Manitoba Avenue.
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued for a short distance before stopping in a parking lot on Manitoba Avenue. Police checks revealed the male driver was wanted by the Selkirk RCMP and that his drivers’ licence expired years prior.
The male was arrested without incident. Officers observed drug paraphernalia and drugs in the vehicle.
A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle. Officers later found more drug paraphernalia, suspected cocaine, cash and a conducted energy device.
Kyle Wilkinson, 42, from Winnipeg has been charged with:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose;
- Unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon; and
- Possession of a scheduled substance.
He was also served with provincial offence notices for:
- As a driver, fail to produce licence to a peace officer when required;
- Drive without a licence and;
- As a driver, fail to stop and remain stopped when signalled or requested by a peace officer.
He was remanded into custody.
Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
