On Oct. 11, at approximately 2:25 a.m., RCMP received a tip from the public about a possible impaired motorist driving erratically in Swan River.

RCMP began patrolling the area and located the vehicle parked in a lot at a business on the 400-block of Westwood Road. Officers found the suspect sleeping in the driver’s seat.

RCMP formally conducted a traffic stop, knocking on the window to wake the male. Once awake, the suspect was arrested. The suspect subsequently provided breath samples that revealed blood-alcohol levels above the legal limit.

An 18-year-old male Swan River male faces charges of:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired; and
  • Operation of motor vehicle above .08 per cent.

The male was released on an appearance notice for court in December. His name cannot be publicly released until the charges are sworn.
