On October 6, 2026, at 7 pm, Beausejour RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at a residence on Road 80 N in the RM of Brokenhead.

The homeowner called police immediately when he heard someone kicking the door of his residence attempting to break in. The male suspect was not able to gain entry and fled the property.

Officers reviewed available surveillance footage of the suspect and he was quickly identified as Ashley Sandison, who is already wanted by RCMP for property crimes in the area.

Patrols for Sandison began immediately and while out in the area, officers were flagged down by someone at the intersection of Road 36 E and Road 80 N.

The individual informed police that he had just chased someone off his property. The description provided matched the male previously seen on camera.

Officers from the Beausejour RCMP along with the assistance of a drone operator and RCMP Police Dog Services, were able to locate the suspect walking down a trail at a nearby residence. Soon after he was seen driving a skid steer, heading north on Road 36 E.

Officers attempted a traffic stop and then physically tried to stop him, but Sandison rammed the police vehicle with the skid steer.

Other attempts were made to physically stop the skid steer, but in the process, two officers were injured and had to receive treatment for minor injuries.

The skid steer was later located in a thick bush line by the drone operator, but Sandison was not found.

Ashley Sandison, 46, from the RM of Reynolds is wanted on an unendorsed warrant for:

  • Break and enter
  • Assault on Police Officer with weapon, causing bodily harm x 2
  • Resist arrest x 3
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from Police
  • Mischief over $5,000 to a motor vehicle

Beausejour RCMP continue to investigate.
