On October 28, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from a property on Lowland Road in the RM of Lac du Bonnet.
Officers attended the property and were talking with the owners when the vehicle drove past them. Officers immediately attempted to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
Other officers from neighbouring detachments responded to the scene to assist and were able to create roadblocks in an attempt to stop the vehicle. A tire deflation device was used to immobilise the vehicle, which then continued down the gravel road for several kilometres before entering a nearby field on Lowland Road.
RCMP Police Dog Services entered the field with other officers and confronted the driver. The motorist tried to drive away but RCMP were able to disable the vehicle. The driver fled on foot and was quickly stopped by police dog Stewie.
The driver, Tyler Murash, a 32-year-old male from Winnipeg, has been remanded in custody and is charged with:
- Theft of motor vehicle;
- Mischief to property over $5,000;
- Flight from police officer;
- Resist arrest;
- Unauthorized possession of ammunition while prohibited; and
- Operate a motor vehicle while prohibited.
Lac du Bonnet RCMP continue to investigate.
