On Oct. 28, at approximately 4:30 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of an attempted home invasion occurring at a residence in Swan River.

Officers learned a male suspect came to the house and knocked on the door. The 57-year-old resident, who knows the suspect, briefly opened a window and spoke to the suspect, causing the suspect to walk away.

The resident opened the door a short time later and the suspect returned. A physical altercation ensued between the two, with the suspect forcing his way into the residence and then being forced out. After the resident shut the door and went back inside, the suspect grabbed a rock and threw it at the house, then punched a window before walking away.

RCMP arriving at the scene located a male matching the suspect’s description a short distance from the home. The suspect refused to comply with police orders, prompting officers to assist him to the ground and arrested him.

A 33-year-old Swan River male faces charges of:

  • Assault; and
  • Break and enter with intent.

He was released on an undertaking. The suspect can not be named until charges are sworn.
