On November 1, 2026, at 10:31 am, Selkirk RCMP received a dangerous driving complaint. It was reported that two individuals were walking with their dog north on Henderson Highway in the RM of St Clements, when a vehicle driving south came driving towards them.
The 42-year-old male quickly pulled his 51-year-old partner away from the vehicle and moved to the ditch. The driver of the vehicle hit the shoulder and then quickly pulled away. The couple was able to obtain a licence plate.
A male then called Selkirk RCMP to explain that he observed two individuals wearing all black, walking on the side of the road earlier that morning and he waited until the last second to move over. The phone number displayed was associated to the registered owner of the suspect vehicle.
Police attended the residence of the registered owner who admitted to officers that he drove towards two individuals to “scare them” earlier that day. The elderly male was arrested but then backed away from police, resisting arrest.
The male is facing charges for assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. He was released on conditions with a pending court date. He was also served with a serious offence notice for licence review.
Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
