On Oct. 25, at approximately 9:20 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of shoplifting that had occurred at a business on the 1400-block of Main Street South in Dauphin.
Officers learned a female suspect had come into the store, put items into her bag and left without paying, ignoring employees who insisted she needed to pay for the merchandise. RCMP investigated, identified a suspect and arrested her that afternoon at a different store.
She was charged with theft, then held in custody overnight before being released with conditions not to return to the business.
On Nov. 4, at approximately 4:40 p.m., RCMP were notified that the suspect had returned to the store and was suspected of stealing items. The suspect had left the store but was located by patrolling officers a short time later near the intersection of 1st Street Southeast and 7th Avenue Southeast. She was arrested without incident.
Officers were also able to link the suspect to a theft at second store, with items found in her possession.
Gina McKay, 34, of Winnipeg is charged with:
• Theft under $5,000 x2; and
• Failure to comply with an undertaking.
She was released on a release order.
