A 23-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Moncton, N.B.

On January 10, 2025, at approximately 1:34 a.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP, Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Morton Avenue at the intersection of Pascal Poirier Street, in Moncton.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the driver lost control of his vehicle, left the street and struck a power pole. The driver, a 23-year-old man, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The only passenger, a 19-year-old man, was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

A New Brunswick RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the man's exact cause of death.

Morton Avenue was closed between University Avenue to McLaughlin Drive for approximately two hours, but has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
