51-year-old woman dies following single-vehicle crash

A 51-year-old woman from South Nelson, N.B., has died following a single all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash in Barnaby River, N.B.

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Richibucto RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single side-by-side crash on Semiwagon Road, in Barnaby River.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the driver of the ATV lost control of his vehicle, and rolled several times.

The only passenger, a 51-year-old woman, was ejected from the ATV and died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver was treated on scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the Miramichi Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, the RCMP Forensic Collision Analyst Team, and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office is also assisting with the ongoing investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the man's exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
