The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested a 45-year-old man, recovered a stolen truck and snowmobile, and seized a significant number of contraband cigarettes following a single-vehicle crash in Saint-Basile, N.B.
On January 13, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP responded to a report of single-vehicle crash on Highway 2, in Saint-Basile.
The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck, a 45-year-old man, sustained what were believed to be minor injuries, and was transported to hospital.
Shortly after arriving at the scene, police determined that the pickup truck involved in the crash, along with the snowmobile it was hauling, were both reported as stolen. The truck and the snowmobile were towed to a secure location, and the contraband cigarettes were seized.
The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man from North York, Ontario, was later arrested and remanded into custody.
On January 14, 2025, Connor Andrew Kilp appeared in Edmundston Provincial Court and was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property.
He was remanded into custody and is will reappear in Edmundston Provincial Court on January 16, 2025, for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
