The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit recently played a significant role in rescuing two children in the United States.
On November 26, 2024, members of the New Brunswick RCMP’s ICE Unit discovered what was believed to be new exploitative media of children.
Upon further investigation, and in collaboration with the New Brunswick RCMP’s Digital Forensic Services and the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre, it was confirmed that children were at risk in a home in the United States. This information was immediately forwarded to the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations and further sent to a local police department. A search warrant was executed by U.S. authorities shortly thereafter.
During the search, local authorities rescued two children under the age of eight, and arrested a woman. The investigation in the U.S. is still ongoing.
The New Brunswick RCMP would like to highlight the collaboration between worldwide organizations that continue to keep our children safe online, and thank our partners who all played a role in quickly rescuing these two children.
