RCMP seize drugs, firearms, ammunition; man charged

The New Brunswick RCMP has seized drugs, firearms and ammunition, and a 38-year-old from Bass River, N.B., has been charged. 

On February 1, 2025, members of the Richibucto RCMP received information regarding a firearm-related offence that occurred at a residence on Fishing Club Road, in Bass River, N.B. 

Further to their investigation, police attended the residence in Bass River on February 2, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., and arrested the 38-year old man without incident in connection with the offence. 

Subsequent to the arrest, a search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence. During the search, police seized a quantity of what is believed to be methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, firearms and ammunition.

On February 3, 2025, 38-year-old Robert Thompson appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with pointing a firearm. He was remanded into custody, and will reappear in Moncton Provincial Court on February 5, 2025, for a bail hearing. 

The investigation is ongoing.
