40-year-old woman charged following attempted murder

A 40-year-old woman from the community of Elsipogtog First Nation, N.B., has been charged following an attempted murder in the community of Elsipogtog First Nation, N.B.

On March 22, 2025, at approximately 1:45 a.m., members of the Richibucto and Elsipogtog First Nation RCMP responded to a report of a 20-year-old woman being treated by paramedics at an ambulance station in Elsipogtog First Nation, for injuries sustained during an assault. She was later transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries. 

Shortly after, police were made aware of a violent assault that had occurred at a residence on Hill Street in the community of Elsipogtog First Nation. Police attended the residence and arrested a 40-year-old woman without incident. A search warrant was subsequently obtained and executed at the residence as part of the investigation. 

Later that day, 40-year-old Sheena Clair appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand, and was charged with attempted murder. She was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to Moncton Provincial Court on April 1 for a bail hearing.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Southeast Crime Reduction Unit is now leading the investigation.
