A 33-year-old man from Tracadie-Sheila was charged following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Saumarez, N.B.
On May 29, 2025, at approximately 6:32 p.m., members of the Tracadie RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Saulnier West Road in Saumarez. The victim, a 53-year-old man, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before police arrived but was quickly identified. Shortly after, police arrested a 33-year-old man at his residence.
On May 30, 33-year-old Dean LeBreton appeared in Bathurst Provincial Court, by way of tele-remand, and was charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, failure to stop and dangerous driving. He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on June 2, 2025, for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
