The Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP is seeking the public's help in connection with a suspected arson in the community.
On December 16, 2024, between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m., members of the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP received a report of a recreational vehicle (RV) on fire at a business on Highland Road in Grand Bay-Westfield.
When police arrived, a total of 6 RVs were burning. Through the investigation, it was determined that an individual had unlawfully gained access to a storage facility and intentionally set fire to one RV. Subsequently, 5 adjacent trailers were burnt to the ground. No one was injured and the RVs were unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The individual is described as average height and weight. At the time of the incident, the individual was wearing a unique orange and black jacket with a blue hoodie underneath. He fled the scene in a 2013 or newer model Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab truck. The truck has a chrome logo on the tailgate and black rims.
Police are now releasing video surveillance footage photos of the suspect and the truck in hopes someone may recognize them.
Anyone who has information that could help further the investigation is asked to contact the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP at 506-757-1029. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
The investigation is ongoing.
